Attention all Young Marines, Recruits and Families - There will be no Young Marines drill this week. The Army is currently doing a procedural update due to COVID19 and we will not be able to use the base until this is complete. Please watch TeamReach, Facebook or our website for updates on when we will be returning. As always please contact the UC or XO with any questions. Stay safe everyone.
Rhode Island Young Marines will resume our regular drill schedule July 8th, 2020. With the current health situation in mind we will be following certain new guidelines.
Everyone attending drill or entering the building will be required to have their temperature taken with a no contact thermometer. Staff, parents, children and visitors with no exceptions. Anyone showing signs of a fever will be denied entry. Parents, please DO NOT drop off your children and leave without making sure that they can gain entrance.
The office will not be used for drop off and pickup. Everyone attending should drive around to the back of the building and enter through the roll up door and proceed directly to the drill deck. Using the drill deck will enable the Young Marines to maintain social distancing. This is also where the Young Marines will be dismissed after drill. Parents can remain in their cars lined up behind the building and we will release the Young Marines directly to their cars.
All PT will be conducted outside so all Recruits and Young Marines should arrive in their PT gear with their water bottle and their notebook, guidebook and pens/pencils in their backpack. Anyone arriving without a water bottle will be sent home. It may be hot outside so hydration is important.
There will be classes held on the drill deck and in various classrooms when necessary using social distancing.
With the Governors current mandatory mask order expired there will be no masks required as long as social distancing is maintained. Staff will make every effort to make sure that social distancing is maintained. If you are more comfortable having your Young Marine/Recruit wear a mask please make sure that they bring it to drill and are properly instructed on how to keep the mask clean.
For more information on the mask rules as well as other guidelines set forth by the Department of Health please go to https://health.ri.gov/covid/
